BRITISH HORSE SOCIETY, PORTFOLIOS FOR THE ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATION
Once a candidate has achieved the Stage 3 and PTT examinations in order to gain their BHS AI qualification a portfolio has to be completed within a certain time limit. This is then sent to the BHS at Abbey Park along with two references, one from an instructor they have worked for/with and another from a different employer together with a current First Aid certificate.
When you first read the paperwork required to put together the portfolio it seems insurmountable, especially if you're a' hands on' outdoor person. Once completed your portfolio can be sent to either Grainne Sugars, Jessica Soley, Faith Ponsonby or Jillie Rogers for Assessment (fee in the region of €50.00) prior to it being sent to the BHS for further moderation. Candidates should register thir portfolio before sending away to BHS or any of above Assessors.
The BHS has recognised that many people have not completed their portfolios and there are many outstanding AI certificates to be allocated. To this effect you may contact any of the above instructors to help you to prepare the portfolio which can then be sent to any of the other Assessors mentioned above to be signed off and sent on to the BHS.
Please register your interest with AIRE if you wish to attend the next Portofolio Completion Day in Beech House, Naas.
