Ross House Equestrian Centre

Ross House Equestrian Centre offers a great variety of activities for riders of all levels, children or adults, beginners or advanced.

Our BHS or EFI trained instructors provide riding lessons by appointment in groups or by private tuition.

Including pony camps, we also host weekly competitions under the patronage of SJI (the Association of Show Jumping Ireland) or if you prefer visit the more relaxed training clinics intended for both novice rider and horse.

We stable and train your horse or pony. Please inquire for training or DIY.

To school your horse use either our all weather sand arena (50 x 80 m) or our large indoor arena ( 40 x 60 m).   Riding Clubs are welcome to use our facilities.

In the charming old manor house (17th Century) accommodation and good old home cooking is available. There are 6 en-suite double rooms and the apartment with sitting room, bedroom and little kitchen for more than two people.

For your leisure use our tennis court or take a boat from our private pier for fishing or just for a cruise on the 4000 acres lake.

Slieve Aughty Riding Centre

Welcome to Slieve Aughty Centre in the west of Ireland.  We are a family owned and operated equestrian and activity centre offering riding holidays, hourly treks, riding lessons, cross country training, English Language instruction, party and conference facilities, organic food, cycling and walking trails and more.  Approximately 50 km east of Galway City and adjacent to more than 50 miles of forest and quiet country lanes, immerse yourself in the tranquillity and beauty of Ireland’s landscape. We cater for the novice and advanced rider; and with over 30 horses and ponies, you are sure to find one that suits.

Adjacent to more than 50 miles of forest trails and endless country lanes, Slieve Aughty Riding Centre offers some of the best trail riding in all of Ireland. Explore new landscapes every day on a week long trail holiday, or book a trek by the hour and spend a relaxing afternoon on a quiet, safe horse or pony. Find out why the Irish horse is so special as our experienced mounts easily navigate steep inclines, boggy fields, rocky paths, river crossings, tangles of vegetation and more. Bring the camera to capture the incredible scenery.

For more advanced riders, get out of the arena and challenge yourself on our cross country course!  Covering over 20 acres, the cross country course presents a variety of obstacles, including water jumps, ditches, walls, drops and combinations, all over varied terrain.   Bring your own horse or hire an experienced Irish hunter and enjoy!  If riding lessons are desired, our qualified instructors can guide you in the large all-weather sand arena or on the cross country course. After your ride sip a hot tea or cool pint in our cosy restaurant, where we serve up organic food from our own garden. For your comfort, toilet, locker and changing facilities are available for all guests.

An eco-friendly centre, Slieve Aughty makes every effort to minimise our impact on the environment, from biodegradable cleaning agents to chemical free pasture management.

Established in 1986, Slieve Aughty Centre is AIRE (Association of Irish Riding Establishments) and Bord Failte, and BHS approved.

For more information, contact us! We love to hear from you and look forward to helping you create your next family adventure.
